Jelard Aquino, a senior physiology undergraduate has been working with Vikram on learning computational tools since January 2018. In summer 2018, he received funding from INBRE to engage in a meta-analysis project involving RNAseq data from blister rust infected white pine species.
Jelard was recently awarded a 3 month internship to work at the Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute in Panama. He will be joining a vibrant community of researchers engaged in understanding speciation genomics of new world butterflies of genus Heliconius. He will be working with McMillan and Kozak research group to analyze whole genome sequencing data and will leverage the data analysis skills he acquired during his stint with the IBC. We wish him all the best in this exciting endeavor.
